Melissa L. moved to Montreal in 1998 and from there Missy Industryslowly started to hatch. Moving from Ottawa to Montreal turned her style and interests from flower-power trippy hippie to industrial and hardcore.
Influenced by H.R. Giger and Nine Inch Nails at first and then by the alternative people she met at raves and after hours clubs. In the last of three years spent studying at the Jewellery School of Montreal, it was all about spikes and insects! 2001 was the beginning of the minimal, industrial style that is still present in her work today.
Missy Industry was officially launched in January 2004 and that first year shown exclusively at three prestigious Canadian trade shows and in a few boutiques in major cities. Since 2008, selling online has allowed the collection to really come into it's own by finding the perfect, special Dark clientele that is thinly spread out all over the world. Intense interest in the occult, symbolism and the macabre also started at this time.
The amazing people who create the underground art and music scene in vibrant, forward-thinking cities are still the main source of inspiration. A mix of black metal, post-punk and hard techno rule the Missy Industry atelier speakers which are now located in beautiful Stoneham, Quebec.
